Image Entertainment, Inc. (otcqb:DISK) has acquired North American rights, including theatrical, home entertainment, digital and broadcast, to the quirky new comedy which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, GOATS. A film about an eccentric New Age family, GOATS stars David Duchovny ("Californication," "The X Files"), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), Kerri Russell (Bedtime Stories), Ty Burrell ("Modern Family"), Justin Kirk ("Weeds"), Graham Phillips (Evan Almighty) and Dakota Johnson (The Social Network) and was directed by Christopher Neil. The film is being slated for a spring theatrical release. The announcement was made today by Image Entertainment's Chief Acquisitions Officer, Bill Bromiley.
"GOATS is a humorous and heartfelt comedy featuring a great cast," commented Bromiley. "I am sure that audiences will really enjoy David Duchovny's performance as the Goat Man."
GOATS tells the story of fifteen-year-old Ellis who is getting ready to leave his luxurious home in the foothills of Tucson, Arizona, for his freshman year at Gates Academy, an East Coast prep school. This means leaving behind Wendy, his flaky, New Age mother and the only real father he has ever known, Goat Man.
GOATS is Christopher Neil's directorial debut. It was written by Mary Poirie and executive produced by Richard Arlook, Daniel Crown, Peter Fruchtman, Eva Maria Daniels, Juan Carlos Segura G, River Marker, Michael Scott Saunders, Jai Stefan, Peter Touche and Todd Traina.
