Embeth comments on chemistry w/DD

This is from this past Sunday's NY Daily News TV book:

From uptight to undressed on Californication

South African actress Embeth Davidtz has been showing her stuff as Felicia, school administrator and the wife of David Duchovny's boss on Californication. But not too much "I thought, 'If the clothes have to come off, it's not that bad. A little bit skinny," says Davidtz, scrutinizing the figure that belies her 44 years and two children. "But you don't actually see a lot." That's despite the fact that Felicia, originally very proper, has turned sexually ravenous with Duchovny's character, Hank Moody. At one point, Davidtz says, she lamented to Duchovny over Felicia being "so uptight and straight, and he said, 'Don't worry. You don't have to be like me.'...People don't realize how hard it is to be that loosey goosey, naughty, subversive in everything he says." Davidtz also notes, "It was great chemistry with me and David. But then, I remember hearing someone say, 'Everyone has great chemistry with David - boys, animals, everyone.' He's so sexy."

_____ think David's low-key acting and his generous personality on Californication allows women to feel comfortable around him. That makes a production set a nice place to visit for women who are not sure about doing sex scenes when they are over 21 - way over. I applauded his approach because they are many men and women who laud him for this.

agree with this and I have always wondered if this chemstry and generousity comes from being a team player--he has said in interviews before that what he really likes is the spirit of a group of people creating something together and how he is always searching for the feeling that he used to get on the sports field as a part of a team.

I think DD has it right. Create an environment where everyone wants to come to work and do it right. That is the difference between success and failure. ...but given the comedic
nature of Cali---it also helps get people relaxed and possibly in a comic mood.
