I wish you had more time to rest, but I'm glad you're working, because I definitely enjoy your work. Now that more of us have seen HoD, I'm hoping we can actually discuss it in detail. Thanks for the movie and thanks for the blog. - Posted at 4/19/2005 7:53 PM shay writes: Hey David! Sorry you're feeling so sick! I'm sure you'll get better soon though! Just wanted to let you know I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie. I'm in Toronto at the moment, so hopefully it'll open here sometime soon. Let us know if there's anything we can do here in Canada to help out; I was thinking of calling the T.O. Lionsgate office and bug them. Thank you for your continued consideration. I truly believe that that kind of effort comes back to those who expend the energy you have in promoting your film. I'm truly looking forward to seeing House of D again and being a multiple time paying customer. I can't emphasize enough for those who haven't yet seen this movie how wonderful it is and what an enjoyable experience watching it was. It plays on your heart while it's going on and plays in your mind long afterward. Take your friends and expect to talk about it afterward--I don't think you'll be able to help it. Get rest and stay warm for the next few days, David. Haul all the kids and dogs into your family bed, pass around the juice and water, and just snooze. I hope you all feel better soon. - Posted at 4/19/2005 8:18 PM UnNameable writes: Oh, DD, the flu? Guess it's no surprise, what with all that travelling. You are too cool to leave an audio message with the way you must be feeling. It's always so nice to hear from you (It really is something to say we ""heard"" from you. God, I love the internet). I'm so, so, very glad you're going to continue the blog/a blog! I hope to soon be able to comment on House Of D from first-hand experience. I'm very jealous of all these people who have seen it, some more than once. I am at the point where I'm ready to plan a train trip from Milwaukee to Chicago to see it. A great movie, in a great town-- Works for me! You and Téa and the kids, get well quick! - Posted at 4/19/2005 8:19 PM mulderpause writes: David, Sorry to hear the family isn't feeling well. Feel better, enjoy Montreal and wish West happy birthday for me. It went around my house and so far I am the only on who hasn't got it yet. I saw the article on you in Aprils people magazine. I was in seminar at school when just my luck I ran straight into the magazine rack in the library, and by luck it landed face up exactly on your page, and after being shooed several times by the snooty librarian I manged to read the article. Triatholons huh? I can't run worth crap...but anyways Can't wait till House of D opens up nation wide. - Posted at 4/19/2005 8:21 PM smilefellas writes: ...seems i'm always checking in from work and i'll have to wait until i get home to listen to this. the other posters commented about you having caught a cold. i guess all the running around, public appearances and lack of sleep did you in. get lots of rest, drink alot - orange juice is great, and most importantly - don't worry so much! never mind the critics' nasty pens. look at the turnout you had! if you do the math... break it down to how well you did in only TWO theaters... you did better than the #1 box office hit. i've mentioned before that i'm in Israel and obviously can't go see it myself, but i keep spreading the word to family and friends back in NY. i'm rooting for you and keeping tabs. thanks again for being such a great person! feel better! 8D - Posted at 4/19/2005 8:23 PM DisneySweeper writes: Must be flu and cold season. Given what my friends who have seen it and have said such good things about it, from the clips I've seen -- and despite the freakin' critics!! -- I'm quite sure I'm going to enjoy it and will no doubt likely repeat the experience on April 29th. It's overcast here in LA, easier to stay in bed. 70 miles from PV, round trip, with my daughters to the Grove on Sunday. We were definitely delighted and touched by your movie. We are going again this weekend and bringing a group of 13 year olds. Having been a fan of yours the past 12 years, I greatly appreciate the special gift you have given us by sharing your thoughts and creativity. I have enjoyed the other bloggers and I feel a kinship when I see their user names on yahoo or other web sites supporting the movie. In this strange time we live in, it is humanizing to feel part of something larger. PS. I love the scene in the movie when Tea is playing basketball with Tommy and cuts loose with her incredible smile! Thanks for taking the time and effort to send the audio blog even though you aren't feeling well. We love to hear your voice no matter how it sounds. I hope that you, Tea and the kids get well fast. You posted just hours before the premiere, and have kept your fans updated throughout opening weekend. Phoning in to the blog while ill is above and beyond the call of duty. Through what must be an experience of both good and bad extremes, you have exhibited good humor, class, and openness. Whether or not this is yet another example of your keen acting abilities, kudos for setting a good public standard. I hope your efforts to support your fanbase pay off not only in ticket sales, but in many more happy encounters, in both virtual and theatrical venues. It will help you feel more energetic, will soothe fever, headaches, chills, coughs, and sore throat, and tastes fantastic to boot. Here's the recipe: 1) Chop up about 1 tsp of fresh rosemary per cup of tea. Put it in the cup, and pour boiling water over it. Put a saucer on top so the steam doesn't escape! 2) Allow the tea to cool to a drinkable temperature, then strain the rosemary out of it. 3) Add 1 tablespoon of clover honey. 4) Squeeze in fresh lemon, lime, or orange to taste. This is the best remedy I have ever found for flu symptoms. I truly hope you all feel better soon...this year's flu is a monster. I have constantly been amused at the amount of ""rooting"" which has been taking place on this blog. In Australia ""rooting"" has a very differnt meaning than in the US. I wonder if Lion's Gate realise that they are hosting an R rated (your equivalent of NC17) blog. My favorite (laugh out loud) comment on this blog was from Phyllis regarding her husband's message for you. Go and check it out on the Videoblog no1 entry. Thank God for independent films. Wheras I like a bit Of Mulder Hurt /comfort when it comes to X files fanfic, David torture is definitely not good, especially when you have a film to start work on next week..(Hope the computer is well again soon.) Airplanes are terrible incubators for other peoples germs. Here's what works for me. Plenty of lavender oil in the bath, lots of OJ and Chicken soup, a pet to snuggle with (a chance for your cat to redeem its nonchalance at your leaving last week hahah) the rest of the clan all curled up in one bed. Your favorite DVDs or chill out music. Just bum around for a few days and recover. Ack I saw this coming. All that travel and stress takes its toll. Everyone seem to have the flu right now, must be going round. Odd late spring here and weather that wont make up its mind. Glad you will keep blogging. Wasn't able to make any of the openings in NYC or Boston. But, 'D' opens in Albany NY on April 29. I'll be there with a group of folks. Really looking forward to it. The word of mouth is terrific, so I say, screw the critics. Keep blogging, David. I'll fill you in on the Albany NY opening. I'll have to listen when I get home, but from the comments, obviously the gist is that the family is sick. Tends to happen when we travel, doesn't it? All that stale air on the plane. I hope everyone feels better quickly. - Posted at 4/20/2005 5:57 AM lauscully writes: hi david!!!! thank for the new audio post. i wish you recover soo"
