I don't know if the PAL version will be released in the UK but I will buy that too if it is. I have seen your movie David and I love it, it's a wonderful and worthwhile story. It stayed with me long after watching it and that is always a good test. Thank you for the movie. I am also looking forward to your work in Trust The Man, The Secret and The TV Set. I have no doubt your perfomances in each of these will be excellent. You are a consummate professional i.e. You rock

Wished I'd seen this sooner cause I missed you last night...dozed off during the news (this happens when you get old), woke up, Leno was almost over so I got up, turned off the TV and went to bed...AAAGGGHHH!!! Neato! I'm a fan of Mr. Duchovny so that's how I found this place. Seeing 'House of D' is something I'll definitely be adding to my busy housewife agenda. I know David has been overly criticized in the past for his work. I just want to say that there is a large segment of the population that his spirit or personal character speaks to, which is relayed through his work. I have no doubt that I will enjoy anything his hands have been involved in. - Posted at 9/29/2005 10:26 AM dix writes: The abreviated showing last nite seemed a surprise to Leno, only saw your IOU on the bike. Now that you have your very own blog, have you decided how the people who appreciate your efforts can help other than buying tickets or DVD'S. There must be a few dollars lying around out there that might be invested to help. I have heard you talking about looking for some backing. You might let us know how we can invest in DD. I will most definitely spread the word that ""House of D"" is now out on DVD. I can't wait to see it. I'm also very anxious to see Secrets. I am especially looking forward to that second X-Files Movie, when it does come out. I am a patient person, and can wait... and let's face it, I just really don't have much choice, now do I? LOL I'm quite sure it will be worth the wait. I recently sent you a combination ""Belated Birthday/Hi There"" card. I asked you in the card, to please let me know if you do decide to start blogging again, and if so, where? I believe I slipped two of my email addresses in their also....So, if you even got the card, and by some chance still have it, I'd appreciate you taking a minute or two to let me know. Since you`re posting again I thought maybe you`re reading the comments again, too :*D Cause I wanted to tell you something: The other day I saw Return To Me *:)* for the first time and I loved it so much!!! <3 I`ve watched it like 20 times since then! The movies you take part of are always so intense and full of love!!! I dig your performance in the crying scene: It`s very realistic and touching! You`re lying on the floor with the posture of an unborn baby at the end of the scene... But I don`t want to analyze apart the magic of it. Anyway, I think it`s a very meaningful movie, because it shows so much of real life and its problems and joys. And with all these little details it`s so full of love for life and for being a human. It has such a positive message, ya know? You did GREAT on it!!!* Best wishes <3 from Lotte *g* - Posted at 10/04/2005 11:21 AM KFaye writes: It's finally October 4th and I ordered my copy of House of D! I can't wait to see it. I don't know why I didn't see it earlier, I guess I just don't go to the movies anymore unless there are a lot of ""special effects"" you just have to see on the ""Big Screen"". I started to tell my friends about the movie - sometimes my work as a paramedic can leave me a little callous in this crazy, busy world - but when I like to escape into a movie - a movie like this brings back all those emotions and reminds me once again that I am still human. I've now ordered my copy of House Of D on DVD from USA, as I can play NTSC on my system. So I should be seeing it sometime in November! SO looking forward to this!
I haven't seen the Jay Leno interview yet, but I did see one with Ellen DeGeneres and the totally hysterically funny one you did with that Scottie bloke Craig Ferguson!! SO you studied phillosopy eh? Interesting.
They were on the duchovny.net multi-media site. Can't see 'em on TV as they only seem to show these US chat shows on satellite, which I don't have. So once again, thank goodness for the Internet!
I'll be sure to get back on here when I've seen your movie - now I know you're still checking this out. Cool! Be seeing ya. Take Care! Penny xx - Posted at 10/21/2005 1:59 PM Jon Harris writes: Mr. Duchovny, I was very discouraged when my wife and I rented your movie House of D anticipating an enjoyable Friday night. Instead, we decided to turn it off due to the vulgar depiction of the 13 y/o's life which although maybe somewhat realistic, seemed over the top, gratuitous and forced. We turned the movie off after hoping that the crudeness would settle down after you established the character, but at some time you must say enough is enough. When your mind is saturated with the language of penis, fucker, boner, up yours, etc. what's the point. While being artistic and real, there must be a more redemptive way of portraying the life of this young boy. The rest of the movie may have had a powerful plot, but I was not willing to compromise my morals and senses any further in order to find out. With your God-given talent, I hope you can find a more god-like way to depict the reality of the world in which a young man finds himself. sincerly, Jon - Posted at 10/22/2005 8:24 AM mnspenpal writes: Hi David I received a pleasant surprise today in the post - your film!
I wasn't expecting it till Nov 7th at latest. I'd been feeling rather depressed, and was so glad to watch it this afternoon. I hope you don't mind me endlessly rambling on and on, but I've got so much to say.
Warning to those who've not see it yet though - SPOILERS on the way!! Overall I liked it; the gritty realism mixed with the Grimms fairytale style. It made me laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time - confusing emotions!
I had vowed I wouldn't cry, as I'd got ready to go out, and had mascarra on. Ooops! Too late! You MADE me!
I know you were stressing in interviews that it was funny as hell as well? OH YEAH! I was in hysterics at some point. You and your lovely sexual innuendos and humour, not forgetting the punning power you possess.
You do seem to have an obsession theme with balls! (lol) I had read so much about HOD and seen folks blogs about it, that I kind of thought I knew where the story was going? But the emotionally distressing scene with Tommy in the hospital with his mum hit me right between the eyes. Unexpected twists and turns did pop up, which I was glad of. One of the realisations with Tommy that got to me was when he discovers his Mum and friends are far more important to him than his ego. I mean him wanting to have a girl in his life. Finding love with a partner is great, but the truest love is universal, and sacred. Do you know what I'm getting at? Do 'I' know what I'm getting at? Answers on a post card to... Your cast were super, particularly Tea. I didn't think she was too young, and I liked the way she held her emotions intact - but just enough for you to read the pain in her eyes. Great acting. I loved Anton, but felt he was a little stiff (no pun intended ;)in some scenes. But he's also a great emotional performer. I thought so when I saw 'Hearts In Atlantis.' I'm sure being an intelligent man like yourself, you won't mind me saying things that I had a few problems with? I felt it was rather slow in places (particularly the start - but then it did take off and fly.) Then I watched it again with your very honest commentary, and you did actually state where you felt it was slow.) I also am glad you stopped narrating when I was watching the scenes in the past with Tommy. It was ok at first, but then I felt - hey, I can see the film - I don't need you telling me. Just felt it went more like a book than movie there. Sorry. I liked the 70's soundtrack, but could have done with less of it during some scenes, as I felt it was getting like a music video. Speaking of songs, Erika's voice blew me away! I'd never heard her before! Wow! They are the only qualms I had, and I decided you'd like folk to be honest with you. Still they are my own opinions, and you and others may feel differently. Wouldn't life be bloody boring if we all loved everything the same?
I could see you put your heart, soul and mind in that story - 100 percent. And you should be proud of what you achieved! I was a little disappointed the deleted scenes with Tom and his wife and the french folk had to be cut. Especially the raining money, aw! But glad you cut out the others. Thrilled to bits you DID put a Q&A on there as well.
Enjoyed the 'making of' with everyone - I love all that behind the scenes stuff. Now onto your commentary...hope I'm not boring the pants off you right now? Feel free to stop reading if you want.
Yeah you nutcase! Riding a bike in busy French traffic - eeek! Did you have a death wish? (lol) Still you were merry on wine, so what the heck!
I was in Paris last month, and it was a frightening experience being in a car! Even my husband who is a very good driver was nervous! Ok I'm refering to stuff you said now... You had a REAL toilet in the film! (lol) So loved the pussy humour - cat that farts - chain purse pussy! Miaaaow! (lol) Ah now I DIDN't think SEX when I saw Tommy under his mum's bed! (lol) So liked the minister teacher and his 'heavy' text book english. Cut to brussel sprouts - ah those puns!
Yeah I understand about smoking - my hubby does as well, smoke I mean. Hey, I wouldn't have noticed the repetative cars if YOU hadn't kept on saying about it!
That was one HEAVY lemon - and I'd never heard of candy arsnic green -cool colour. Some people didn't like idea of mother and son in bed, so you didn't put that in? That's a shame as I certainly wouldn't have started thinking incest. It would have been very touching under the circumstances. Love the bit about Chris Carter telling you there was no 911 emergency no. in 1973. Tear on the lens - magical mistake. Yeah it may have showed folks it was a movie - but then yes it is (duh - so love the bit about needing psychiatric help if you don't realise it's a movie. Nice touch!) Ooooh the 'time' tunnel architecture was brilliant! Rain with tears, another accident, added to the emotions. They should definately let you have used 'cock' in Russian Rapture moments. Of course it's a male rooster. (lol) The 'crab parts' scene was one I first saw as a clip, and it touched me, then. I had guessed Robin made you laugh (unscripted) with vibrating bed bit! Looked so natural. (lol) Loved the 'As' song from Stevie Wonder as your choice for end credits. It told the story. Well that's all I have to say - phew thank goodness he cries! I'm just glad to have FINALLY seen it. Though I had to buy NTSC version, and it annoyingly took an hour to get the stupid thing set up right. Don't ask! Was worth it! Just couldn't wait for it to be released as a DVD in UK, any longer!
Plus I'd heard stuff about your movie v movie theatres in US. So that's another reason I bought it before it's release over here. I'm not going into details or sources, but needless to say I was livid!
So anyway I'm going to give you an overall A for effort! (lol) Be VERY proud Dave! Now I'm looking forward to these other films, particularly The Secret. Lots of love!
